Baptism of Laikwan and Wachira

On 17 May 1998, the fifth Sunday after Easter, two members of Ogden First Presbyterian, Christopher Stone and Wangari wa Nyatetu -Waigwa, gave their children up for adoption.

It was a joyous occasion.

At four o’clock that afternoon, their sons, Laikwan Waigwa-Stone (15) and Wachira Waigwa-Stone (12), having publicly declared faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, were baptized by immersion (and by Pastor Minnich) in the chilly waters of Pineview Reservoir.

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
